Ashley Wild emerged onto the radar in the Summer of last year after his “Riding In The Red” caught the attention of Jamie Jones and Lee Foss who signed it up to their Hot Waves sub label. The track then went onto become a staple part of their sets and was heard on dancefloors globally. His recent remix of Raffa FL’s – Hot for You climbed steadily up the charts and showed a grittier edge to his production. Next up is a big release on Mexa Records, the new imprint by Louie Fresco and Jay Blakk from the Climbers, which will feature the sinister sounds of Heavyweight and the sunnier Undress Me, both currently receiving big support from the likes of Richie Ahmed, Russ Yallop, Wildkats, Alexis Raphael and No Artificial Colours to name a few.
Ashley’s roots in electronic music are not new. Much of his youth was spent surrounded by musicians and attending festivals with his parents with whom he runs a festival to this day. Drawing inspration from the folk music that his father played and the sounds of others he came across, his interest in music and performance grew. During the 1990s the rave scene caught his attention and he began buying records after being swept up by the sublime ‘Last Rhythm’ by Last Rhythm. After moving to London a few years later and studying for a diploma in production his interest in DJ’ing evolved to focus on more funk, disco and rare groove sets but it was the hypnotic sounds of electro and minimal house around 2005-2007 that bought him back to electronic music after trips to Ibiza and DC10.
Ashley has played across London at many of the capital’s top clubs past and present and has played overseas across Ibiza, Spain, France, Egypt, Sweden and the US with gigs at the likes of Space Ibiza and Burning Man in the US being particular highlights. As a promoter Ashley today is part of a team that runs one of London’s biggest underground nights – You Are We. Based in East London and with a core focus on bringing up and coming and current acts to a friendly and familiar crowd.
Now a recent addition to the krankbrother family and with a Big EP on Mexa Records around the corner and some further planned releases and remixes , we should see a lot more of Ashley across the UK and beyond.
