On 31st May we return to the magnificent Union Chapel to host two of the finest names in experimental ambient music. Multi-layer soundscape specialists William Basinski and Fennesz will play to the spectacular backdrop of a beautiful candle lit church.

William Basinski started developing his own unique language in the late 1970s, using tape loops and old reel-to-reel tape decks. He developed his melancholic, meditative style by experimenting with short loop melodies that when played against themselves, created feedback loops. He has developed this technique across the last three decades, working tirelessly on numerous albums and projects. The Disintegration Loops, released in 2001, has been hailed as one of ambient music’s great compositions. For this event, William will be performing his latest composition.

Joining him will be Austrian guitarist and composer Christian Fennesz, who creates multi-layered compositions that blend melody and treated samples with techno-influenced production.
