On bank holiday Sunday we’ll host a summer BBQ like no other – at the incredible Walthamstow Assembly. We are very proud to be hosting only the second ever electronic music event at this remarkable Art Deco venue – where names like The Rolling Stones, The Sex Pistols & New Order made their names decades ago.

The format is this: we’ll be starting on the beautiful outdoor terrace, before moving inside for the night section of the show.

Walthamstow Assembly is a Grade II listed building with stunning gold doors renowned for its outstanding acoustics, and it is for this reason that the London Symphony Orchestra frequently rehearse and record at the hall. It’s also been used for recording some of the world’s most famous operas, with Pavarotti a frequent visitor in his heyday.

At our first show in this venue in March 2018, we were blown away by the acoustic values of the room, and the sound levels achieved. Quite simply – we had never heard sound like it in a large venue in London. We can’t wait for you to hear and see what this building has to offer – and our DJ lineup was very much based on finding artists with a mutual love for all things sonic.

It’s a very special thing that we will be able to dance outside in the beautiful grounds of this venue, and it’s something that’s never been done before in the building’s history.

It’s a bit special…

Danilo Plessow aka Motor City Drum Ensemble (MCDE) is one of the most respected DJs on the circuit. His technical ability and vast and diverse musical taste has taken him all over the globe to showcase his turntable skills, playing the best venues and festivals on all continents. It’s been a long time coming!

Nightmares on Wax will also join us. A prominent figure in dance music since the 90s, he has helped to bring much needed eclecticism to dancefloors across the world. Amidst the UK acid rave scene, Detroit techno and New York house Nightmares on Wax laid the groundwork for hip hop and funk leaning dance music. 25 years on and Nightmares on Wax still commands respect as a far reaching DJ and crate digger. With a much-lauded DJ Kicks mix, appearances on Boiler Room and a packed worldwide tour schedule there’s little doubting his skill as a selector.

Finally – Mr Scruff returns to the krankbrother booth. He’ll no doubt be serving up a melting pot of jazz, soul, hip hop, funk, disco, deep house, reggae, afrobeat, and latin. He blew us away at our street party last summer, and it as a question of when, not if, he could come back.

Cue Point will be bringing their 14 foot, custom made (BBQ Mates) reverse flow smoker with them to this event, and setting up for the entire day serving up a range of meat and vegetarian dishes. A substance over style BBQ concept, they use simple and complimentry flavours whilst using innovative smoking methods. In short – TRY IT.

*Walthamstow Assembly is a short walk from Walthamstow Central Underground, which is on the Victoria Line.

**Please respect this venue. It is Grade II listed, and has a very rich history. It survived heavy bombing in WW2. Be nice to it. It deserves to have a rich electronic program, so show them what nice people we are.
